In cooperation between the Institute of Polish-Jewish Studies, the Department of Hebrew and Jewish Studies at University College, London, and the Polish Cultural Institute (London), an afternoon workshop will discuss the very special way survivors of the Holocaust encounter contemporary Eastern Europe.
The discussion will be based on the brand-new documentary Shimon's Returns (dir. Slawomir Grunberg, Katka Reszke, USA 2014, 52 min) which will be screened at the beginning of the event. It is based on the travels of Shimon Redlich, author of the well-known autobiographic historical study Together and apart in Brzezany and Life in Transit. Jews in Postwar Lodz, 1945-50, who will be present.
