Why is it so hard to write well, and how can we do better? Join us for a conversation on how cultivating the art of writing can be a pleasurable and valuable pursuit.
Steven Pinker is one of the world's leading authorities on language and the mind. This special event will bring him together with language columnist Oliver Kamm for a brilliant evening of discussion.
Steven Pinker is Harvard College Professor and Johnstone Family Professor in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University.
His latest book The Sense of Style is a modern take on the writing guide. Eschewing recycled commentary on the effects of texting and tweeting on young people’s mastery of writing, he has instead applied insights from the sciences of language and mind to the challenge of crafting clear, coherent, and stylish prose.
Joining him is Oliver Kamm, language columnist for The Times. His book Accidence Will Happen: The Non-Pedantic Guide to English Usage is forthcoming from Weidenfeld & Nicolson.More Information
