Radical Footsteps: Walking, Romanticism & the Tradition of Trespassing

This event has already taken place.

Host: The Wordsworth Trust
Location: Jerwood Centre, Wordsworth Museum & Art Gallery
Speaker: Conohar Scott

Walking in the Lakes today is a recreational experience; however, what visitors often overlook is the radical history of the walk itself. Conohar Scott charts the history of walking as a performative and political act, relating Wordsworth’s intentional trespassing and The Ramblers’ struggle for access to open countryside, to his own photographic practice documenting pollution.
