This event has already taken place.
Host: Notting Hill Editions
Location: Conde Nast College, Soho, London
Speaker: Harry Mount Chair of Judges
The shortlisted essays have been selected from over 700 submitted titles covering a vast range of subjects. The essays were judged on the originality of the ideas, the quality of the prose and the ability to communicate to a wide audience. Harry Mount, Chair of judges said, “The British have always underplayed the importance of the essay, and yet we're naturally very good at them. The mixture of wit, brevity and original thought suits us down to the ground. Such a generous prize is bound to produce a fresh crop of first-rate essays from established and new writers.”
The overall winner and five runners up will be announced at a ceremony at Conde Nast College Soho London on 14th November. The winning essay will be awarded £15,000 and five runners-up will each receive £1000. All six essays will be published by Notting Hill Editions in an exquisite, clothbound hardback edition and will be available from the day of the announcement.
