Thomas Keneally began his writing career in 1964 and has published over thirty books since. He has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize four times and is best known for his novel Schindler’s Ark, which won the Booker Prize in 1982 and inspired Stephen Spielberg’s Academy Award-winning film, Schindler’s List. His novels have also been dramatised (The Playmaker) and he has penned several works of non-fiction, including his boyhood memoir Homebush Boy, The Commonwealth of Thieves and Australians. His latest book, The Daughters of Mars, follows the fortunes of two country girls during the First World War.
Thomas Keneally lives in Sydney with his wife and daughters and is over in the UK for a month-long tour, so don’t miss this opportunity! There will also be a chance to purchase copies of Keneally’s books and he will be signing after the event.
All proceeds from the event are in support of First Story’s creative-writing programme for young people attending challenging UK secondary schools.
